Donpan Matsuri

ドンパン祭り

Donpan Matsuri is a bon-odori dance festival held in the Nakasen district of Daisen City, said to be the birthplace of the folk song 'Donpan-bushi,' taking place every August 16 at Donpan Plaza. More than 40,000 spectators and about 2,000 dancers gather, forming large circles of dance around the venue. Held every year since its first edition on September 10, 1985 (Showa 60), the festival closes with a creative fireworks show set to music.
